We’ve got a couple of slick boys tonight. Kerby and Gizmo were groomed today, and they are no longer shaggy and look like they have each lost 1-3 pounds. But that was all fluff. We are very happy with the job Danielle and crew do at the Pet Club store at 19th Ave and Northern. What is especially good for us is that Kerby and Gizmo like her and do not fight going to her salon. And she does a very good job of looking for potential problems such as Kerby’s lumps and bumps. They weigh each dog each time and let us know what they weighed in at. And, they are a lot of fun to talk to. A very lively place. Continue reading Grooming day. Coax start. New webs.
Kerby had the bandage and stitches removed this morning from the surgery to remove a wart on his left hind foot. He has done well since the surgery, with no indication of any pain or discomfort. And the wart came off cleanly and healed well according to his vet, Dr Young and Dr Campanile of Companion Pet Clinic. There is still some redness around the wound, but that will continue to heal and he will be alright. He was very calm at the vet’s office this morning and handled being worked on very well. Around noon today some clouds started rolling in, part of the front of Hurricane Newton that is working up from Cabo San Lucas into southeastern Arizona and western New Mexico. As a result, we were treated to a beautiful sunset tonight, with the clouds becoming colored from the setting sun. We may have a similar sunrise tomorrow morning and perhaps a sunset tomorrow night. But there is a forecast of rain, so there may too much cloud cover for a colorful sunset. We have rain forecast for the next couple of days. We need it. Continue reading New door latch. Sunset.
For the past few weeks Elaine has been busy in her craft corner here at the house, making Christmas card kits. She is going to offer these kits to people at the Royal Palm craft sessions in October, so they can make the cards for themselves. I think she has about 10-12 different designs so far, and she is busy making the parts for these for a session in mid-October. These are all her own designs, using components available thru her Cricut system and other sources. And I have to say, these are truly outstanding cards and truly unique. I think these will go over well. Continue reading Christmas cards. Newsletter. Web site.
For a long time I have been frustrated as paper coming out of my printer encounters papers or other stuff on my desktop and does not come out cleanly. Finally I did something about it. I had found a solution at the Staples web site and went to the closest store and bought one today. Actually, the device is sold as a monitor stand, but it works just as well for printers. The design comes in two sizes – the large stand (22″ wide) and the standard stand (14″ wide). I got the large size and it fits my printer very well. We also tried to put Elaine’s Cricut machine on the stand but the space between its feet is too short to fit on the stand top. We’ll get another for her. Continue reading Printer stand. Quiet day.
Today was party day. Labor Day Weekend party day. So we went to two! This afternoon Leslie had organized a pool party for those of us who frequent the pool regularly. We each brought something to snack on and our own drinks. We spent our usual 30-45 minutes in the pool, doing our usual pool things, and then gathered in the shade of the pool umbrellas and shared the food that had been brought. There was a variety of snack items from which to choose, so no one would go hungry. I prepared some shrimp by marinating in teriyaki sauce for a couple of hours and then grilled them on the grill. They came out good. Continue reading Parties
It has been a while since we ate at a US Egg restaurant, so I thought it was time to go this morning. While there are several around us, I chose the one on Greenway Parkway and 7th Street – we’ve been to this one before. I had my favorite there – the Protein Waffle, with sausage. This is filled with Wild Maine Blueberries, granola, cinnamon, and slivered almonds. Elaine had the Italy Omelet; Italian sausage and freshly sliced mushrooms, topped off with marinara sauce, cheese, and pepperoni. He omelet was huge, and stuffed with great flavor. I brought half of my waffle home, and Elaine brought about two-thirds of her omelet home. Good yummies for another time! Continue reading US Egg. FCOC dues. Royal Palm newsletter.
I know it is not an earth shattering thing, but some time ago Ziploc quit making 4-cup (32-oz) storage containers. Instead, they started making 5-cup (40-oz) containers. But those larger ones are just too large for our needs and waste space in the refrigerator and in the cabinet. Our leftovers usually fit quite nicely in the 4-cup size. What’s more, we could not find the 4-cup size by any other manufacturer. But then we started buying lunch meats at Fry’s (Kroger, nationally) and those come in very nice 4-cup reusable containers so we are back in business again. Between the two of us we go through about two of those sliced meat packages a week, so the containers have started building up. Continue reading Storage containers. Wiped out. Channel 12.
