Come time for lunch, I suggested we try the taco place for which we have some coupons for free tacos. “No”, said Elaine, “If I have a choice let’s go to Smashburger.” So Smashburger it was. “Our smashed burgers are always made-to-order, never frozen, smashed and seared to perfection on our grill.” And we will agree they are tasty. A choice for Smashburger is always good.
I had a Create Your Own burger: Black Bean burger on a Chipotle Bun, with spinach, habinero cheese, Smash sauce, and sauteed crimini mushrooms. Yum! Elaine had their Avocado Club sandwich (burger with fresh avocado, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing & mayo on a multi-grain bun). She had a side of Veggies Frites (fresh green beans & carrot strips, flash fried) – so good we sometimes go there just for the frites! Also yum!
From there we were on to Fry’s to do some grocery shopping and then on to Jared’s to pick up some items we had left for cleaning and repair.
Those items had been left a week before we went to Wyoming and were ready to pick up while we were gone. Elaine went over there a week ago to pick them up but was ignored when she went into the store. She walked in and no one came to help her. A man walked in shortly after and was waited on right away, as was another man just after that. Finally, one staff acknowledged Elaine’s presence and said she would be with her in a couple of minutes. Elaine left.
Today I suggested that Elaine go in by herself at first and I would follow, just to see what happened. But this time she was waited on right away and had been when I walked in two minutes later. That’s more like Jared’s service.
I had bought her a gold Pandora charm bracelet for Christmas and when we went in to drop those items off I bought her an advance birthday gift – a gold charm. Today she picked out a gold clip, that attaches to the bracelet and acts as a stop to keep the charms from falling off should the clasp come open.
It was a rain day today. It started with very light sprinkles when I took the boys out and got heavier later in the morning when I took recycles to the bins. And for the rest of the day it has been raining from light to moderate. This evening Kerby has gone to the front door to go for our evening walk twice, but when he heard the rain falling on our awning roof he immediately turned around and went back in. I’ll keep checking in hopes of a short enough break in the rain so we can take that walk.
