Cheeses. Taxes. SitePower.

Toscana with Black Pepper, Cheddar, Gruyere, Cheddar and Gruyere, Havarti, Dill Havarti, JalapeƱo Havarti, Irish Cheddar, Muenster, Swiss, Pepperjack, Habanero Pepperjack, Jarlsberg, Gouda, Smoked Gouda – these are just some of the cheeses I have been eating lately. I like cheese, but Elaine doesn’t care for cheese as much. I usually have two slices in my sandwich at lunch and I often have a chunk with supper. As I reported a few days back Gizmo likes cheese as well, as does Kerby. So I share some small bites of my supper cheese with them.

I worked much of the afternoon on tax preparations. My efforts today had to do with extracting tax item information from the annual summary reports for each of our credit cards. I went through the listings and copied out lines that have deductible items and pasted them in an Excel workbook, separating various category of expense on separate sheets, and then totaling each sheet. This is fairly straightforward for our personal expenses, but for my SitePower.com expenses I copy all the lines from my company credit card reports into one sheet and then will move the amounts into separate columns, where each column has one type of expense. I should be done with this work tomorrow.

I also spent some time in clearing up aspects of my SitePower business. I worked with Tierra.net to remove from my account listing several domains that I no longer host and that have been moved by their owners to another registrar. Tierra.net is the successor to the first Internet domain registrar I used starting in 1995. I have used three others since then and have dealt with a couple of others that my client had already registered with before I became involved. I will go through all of those and eliminate the ones no longer under my control and then will move those remaining to one registrar (HostGator) to make life easier and simpler. I am doing the same with domain hosting; of all the domains and web sites showing in my Arvixe accounts a number of them are no longer in use. Either the domains and sites have been dropped by their owner or they have been moved to another hosting service and are no longer maintained by SitePower. My plan is to end up moving all the domains and sites to a single hosting service – HostGator. This will also simplify my systems and records.
