The topic of $1 margaritas at Applebee’s came up at the pool today, so those of us there decided to head to Applebee’s tonight for supper. That included Bill Russell, his sister Kay and her husband Larry Hale, and Elaine and me. Not only were they offering $1 house margaritas (Elaine, Larry, and Bill each ordered one) but they also have a 2 For $20 deal as well. The latter consists of two selected main courses and one appetizer for two people and that’s what Elaine and I ordered. She had Lime Chicken and I had Bourbon Chicken and Shrimp. Both were delicious and we have, of course, lots of leftovers for another day. What’s more, we had a great time with good company.
It was Breakfast in the Park this morning here in Royal Palm. Elaine had volunteered to help with preparation and serving so she had to be up earlier to get there by 7:30 – breakfast starts at 8:30, which is when I came over. The breakfast was good as usual; I had half a biscuit and sausage gravy, scrambled eggs with cheese, sausages, bacon, and a blueberry pancake. Yum. But Elaine found she had to get away from the serving area after a half hour or more because she got overheated. Mary Jane Caraher said she could leave if she had to and I took her home. While we don’t know what caused this, it happened one other time when she was helping out at a potluck dinner so we think she should not volunteer for these activities.
