WinCo shopping. Newsletter ready for printing. Banks are changing.

It was WinCo shopping time today for Elaine. She invited Pete Petersen to come along since he cannot carry much with his only vehicle – a motor scooter – and he likes to shop at WinCo. He has convinced us of the values for shopping there as well as the quality of some of their offerings. I have liked the Tisdale line of wines he introduced me to; they cost in the $3 range but are good enough for my nightly glass of red wine. And there are several other items we get at WinCo instead of at other stores. So instead of only shopping at Fry’s, we now also shop at WinCo, Trader Joe’s, and sometimes Walmart for groceries. Burrito breakfast. Work on newsletter.

Sunday morning at our house means one of Elaine’s special Breakfast Burritos. A truly outstanding treat. I can eat about half so I save the other half for lunch. Jimmy Dean Regular Sausage mixed Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage, cooked with red and green peppers and onions, and served on a flour tortilla with scrambled eggs and shredded cheese and salsa. Yum! Look Back: Virginia City NV. Temperature dropping. Board meeting.

Delta Saloon
The Delta Saloon on C Street in Virginia City NV. The famous Suicide Table is located here.

[Note: Another photo from the past showing places we have been.] On September 20, 2011, Elaine and I and Kerby visited Virginia City NV in our motorhome. We got a chance to explore some of the historic places in this old silver mining center and took in the atmosphere of the town. One place I enjoyed more than anything else was the 4th Ward School Museum. Lots of history shown there on several floors, telling the story of Virginia City and its many famous players. The photo shows C Street – the main street in Virginia City – and the historic Delta Saloon. The famous Suicide Table in the Delta is where (at least) three people died by their own hand as a result of gambling losses. Continue reading Look Back: Virginia City NV. Temperature dropping. Shopping. Newsletter. Cooler weather.

I guess we didn’t do enough shopping yesterday, for Elaine and Pete Petersen went to WinCo and Walmart today! Pete is a discerning shopper and is very aware of prices and values, and knows which products to buy in which store, so there are things for which he has convinced us to go to WinCo. As well, Elaine needed to do some shopping for the Royal Palm Rescue Pantry and both those places are good places to shop for the pantry. I’ll be able to go next time, for they saw some electric carts at WinCo; I can’t walk far enough to cover that huge store on foot. Continue reading Shopping. Newsletter. Cooler weather.

Motorhome for sale. Shopping trip. More dental work. Ghost pepper.

Phaeton
Our Phaeton 40QTH motorhome as shown at the Sun City RV web site

Our 2012 Phaeton 40QTH motorhome is now listed at SunCityRV.com! You can view the listing, read the details, and see all the luscious photos by clicking on the link above. They did a great job of cleaning it up. It is so temptingly described and depicted I would be tempted to buy it! (Were we not SELLING it) Aside from several misspellings they did a good job in the description. I think they should have included a photo showing the slideout basement storage trays and others showing the inside of the basement compartment doors with the enhancements I made, and I will suggest those. Let’s deliver. Ear, ear!

It took more than a half hour instead of the usual twenty minutes or so, but our volunteer team folding newsletters got the job done. We were short a couple of volunteers who were on vacation. This newsletter was more complicated to assemble because we had FOUR inserts and they had to be assembled in a specific order for a couple of them to work. But the team pulled it off! Box for Copic pens. More office organizers. Hotter.

smaller box
This is one of the smaller boxes in which Elaine stores Copic pens

Elaine has been keeping her Copic pens in some plastic boxes that will hold about 144 pens. She has two and they are mostly full so she needs more storage. She recently found and ordered a larger box, about 11×15 inches in size, that will hold ALL her Copic pens plus more that she hasn’t bought yet. This new box will hold 406 pens. She thinks it will be easier to carry the single box and have all her colors available when she goes to a class. And she has A LOT of Copic pens – more than 250 of them, in fact! An assault on batteries. BB&B, Trader Joe’s, Costco shopping.

Powerpack Pro
The Duracell Powerpack Pro 1300 does a good job of jump starting a car or small truck.

It is a given that the Sonoran Desert heat is hard on vehicles – especially wiper blades and batteries, but also tires. We have to replace wiper blades a couple times a year, for example. I reported yesterday that the engine batteries in our motorhome had quit; this morning when I went to start the Equinox it, too, had a dead battery. I was able to use my Duracell Powerpack Pro 1300 to jump start the Equinox and I should have put it in the car after that. Continue reading An assault on batteries. Dark thirty. Soaking rain. More motorhome shopping.

I got up around 6:30 this morning and was surprised to see it was dark enough in the kitchen I had to turn on the lights. I even double-checked the time, to see if by some chance it was 5:30 instead. It wasn’t. It was just that the sky was totally clouded, and that is unusual for Phoenix. I know it is only a matter of time before it will be dark enough at that time even with clear skies so I will have to turn on kitchen lights in the morning, though. I don’t turn on lights unless I really need them. Continue reading Dark thirty. Soaking rain. More motorhome shopping.

Babbo again. Ace coupons. Newsletter.

at Babbo's
Pete, Leisa, and Elaine at Babbo’s

We went to Babbo’s Italian Eatery again tonight. Pete Petersen and Leisa Herbst went with us this time. It was Pete’s first time; Leisa had been there a long time ago. Once again, great meals. I had the Pasta Puglia (Fresh Tomato Brodo, Fresh Mozzarella, Italian Sausage topped with Fresh Basil and Shaved Parmesan Cheese. Served on Fusilli), Elaine had Crusted Parmesan Chicken, Pete had Chicken Artichoke Calzone, and Leisa had a tomato pasta dish (sorry, I don’t remember). Continue reading Babbo again. Ace coupons.
