Elaine went to the Walmart store at 19th Ave and W Bell Rd this morning to get her nails done. Purple as usual. They look great! She has a nail tech there that she always goes back to; she likes his work.
I was able to reach Arvixe tech support this morning and they were able to quickly get the Royal Palm Social Club web site (RoyalPalmSocialClub.com) working again. They had to make a change in the server’s IP address for some reason. I tried three times to reach tech support today but on the first two it took so long I got busy on something else and missed the connection when they finally came on. On the third time I stuck with it and was able to make the connection and get the problem fixed. Continue reading Elaine’s nails. Web site working again. Health screening.
Remember I said yesterday I can’t get the dressing wet on the surgery site on my back? I still wanted to go to the pool to at least enjoy the sun and water and company. When I first got there I tried sitting on the pool steps and was able to sit high enough to keep the wound above water. But I soon found that this exposed my skin above water to the hot sun and I worried about sunburn. Never had that problem when totally immersed! But Elaine came to my rescue with a solution. Gail Brazell called this afternoon and after apologizing for the short notice asked if I could make a flyer for her. She and others who run the Bingo operation here at Royal Palm had done some shopping this afternoon and they found seat cushions for sale. The one that caught their attention had Bingo sheets imprinted on it. These cushions would be good for stadium seats but also for typical folding chairs such as are found in Bingo parlors. While the folding chairs in our Royal Palm clubhouse are much more comfortable than others, I am sure they can get tiring after a time. So the Bingo team will raffle off the first one they bought today and, if successful, may purchase more for raffling in the future. Ticket prices are shown in the flyer. The proceeds will go to the Social Club, which sponsors the Bingo operation here. Bingo runs every Thursday evening and Elaine is a regular. Continue reading Bingo Cushion. Allergies lessened. Gizmo got a good report from his eye doctor today! It has been two weeks since we took him to Eye Care for Animals because of a swelling on the cornea of his left eye. Dr Sigler prescribed an eye salve which I have been applying to his left eye three times a day. Dr Sigler said there has been an improvement, and we can see the reduction in swelling as well. He must have the salve for another month, though on a reduced dosage. Good news! Continue reading Gizmo good eye report. HostGator. Bearizona.
Ethernet is the wired system for connecting computers and devices, and was the only way prior to wireless (WiFi) becoming popular. And Ethernet remains the most reliable and fastest when it can be used. I had our house wired so that Ethernet cables were run to the office so we could connect our computers there. But only one of the four ports was working, so only one device (my computer) could be connected. I bought an Ethernet hub which solves that problem by splitting the one connection with up to four uses. Continue reading Ethernet hub. Bill Schuling. WordPress expansion.
Hallowe’en season is here, and decorations at the Violettes now show it. We dug out decorations we used last year and Elaine has added some to them for this year. A notable addition is the large witch on our deck. I know there are yet a few more to put up and I am sure Elaine has some in mind beyond what I already know about. That’s a given! Hallowe’en is a fun time to decorate, and is a popular holiday in general. Elaine gets excited about Hallowe’en but it seems she got started later this year than usual. Probably because we took that trip to Wyoming a short time back. Continue reading Halloween decorations. Newsletter. New webs.
We made another trip over to OurHous to move some of Elaine’s craft supplies back to the house. You can’t imagine how much stuff she uses and keeps on hand to do her wonderful card and other projects. She maintains quite a stock here in the house, but she also keeps a stock in the motorhome for when we are traveling. That saves her from having to move it all back and forth at trip start and end. But she is at this time moving stock and equipment that she needs for current projects. I am sure we’ll have several more trips of this nature as she gets it all sorted out. It is so easy to go into the storage yard with the golf cart, load it up, and come back home. We are able to bypass the gate with an end-around the fence using a path only wide enough for golf carts. We headed out of Rock Springs WY this morning around 9:00, starting on our way back to Phoenix. We took I-80 west to Kimball Jct, then got off on US 40 to go to Heber City. We stopped there beside the road to have our lunch, then headed on further and onto US 187. We should have gone further, for there are some nice scenic spots along Deer Creek Reservoir where we could have pulled off for lunch. Maybe next time, if we can remember. Continuing on, we got on I-15 in Orem and continued south to Beaver. All told, the trip today was great. Great weather, smooth sailing, made good time. We will head south from Beaver tomorrow. The last 24 hours has been very frustrating! Right after I finished writing and publishing my entry last night a problem developed at the web server and my web site has not been available. That means that that even though there was a post to Facebook, people could not reach the story. I made a chat session with Arvixe tech support last night; that tech could not solve the problem and bounced it up the line to a higher level. But no response. Two more sessions with tech support today and still no resolution, though the last one did more testing and made the priority high when he bounced it up the line. I am writing this tonight using the server on my local laptop; this works fine and I will find a way to be able to post these stories for access until the problem gets fixed. We’ve got a couple of slick boys tonight. Kerby and Gizmo were groomed today, and they are no longer shaggy and look like they have each lost 1-3 pounds. But that was all fluff. We are very happy with the job Danielle and crew do at the Pet Club store at 19th Ave and Northern. What is especially good for us is that Kerby and Gizmo like her and do not fight going to her salon. And she does a very good job of looking for potential problems such as Kerby’s lumps and bumps. They weigh each dog each time and let us know what they weighed in at. And, they are a lot of fun to talk to. A very lively place. Continue reading Grooming day. Coax start. New webs.
