I had a piece on Kerby a few days ago, so thought I would give Gizmo a turn today. Unlike Kerby, Gizmo is not camera-shy and will usually let me take his photo. However, he is easily distracted by anything that sounds like food or a package being opened so if you want him to stay for a photo you make sure not to have those noises going on. Gizmo loves being close to us and to sit in a lap or beside us in our recliners. He snuggles in close between us and the arm of our chair. But he can often be found curled up on the couch or in the dog bed on the floor. Continue reading Gizmo cutie. New batteries.
It is a given that the Sonoran Desert heat is hard on vehicles – especially wiper blades and batteries, but also tires. We have to replace wiper blades a couple times a year, for example. I reported yesterday that the engine batteries in our motorhome had quit; this morning when I went to start the Equinox it, too, had a dead battery. I was able to use my Duracell Powerpack Pro 1300 to jump start the Equinox and I should have put it in the car after that. Continue reading An assault on batteries. Today is Flag Day, and the Violettes made sure their flags were out. I am so pleased to finally have a US flag displayed at our house full time now; I have been wanting to do this for a very long time. And a couple of weeks ago Elaine fastened two smaller flags on our golf cart. You can see all three in the photo at left. Continue reading Flag Day. Card class. Motorhome batteries. Dolls.
We have a Samsung Smart TV in the office and from the very start we could not find the remote that came with it. Pete Petersen helped me select a universal remote and we have been using that all along. But recently we lost channel 51 and needed to reprogram the channel list and needed the Samsung remote to do it. So I went to the Google store and found an app for my Samsung Galaxy S6 phone which seems to provide all the functions the original remote would have, so now we are back in business again. See photo at left. And we have channel 51 again. While I was playing around with that app I took the time to modify the channel list we see on-screen to eliminate all the Spanish-language ones as well as a couple of others we don’t watch. That makes the list much smaller. Continue reading Samsung TV remote. Golf car batteries. Elaine and Jan.
We are at the current end of the new Valley Metro light rail line, and that is bringing a lot of new people into our area. Many hang out at the new Quik Trip station/convenience store next door. And many transients are camping along the canal behind the property. As a result residents in Royal Palm have become concerned, though we haven’t seen any rise in crime in our community yet. So President George Immerso set up contacts with the City of Phoenix Police Department’s team that interacts with neighborhoods and Officer C J Young came to us tonight to help us get started with a Block Watch program. He also gave us a lot of information about other programs. Continue reading Block Watch. Leftovers. Remote batteries.
