Saturday morning breakfast out was at Fast Eddie’s Diner at 33rd Ave and W Bell this morning. We go there on occasion and always enjoy the atmosphere and the food. It is a fun place with lots of character; the photo shows examples of signs and photos seen on their walls – always humorous. Elaine discovered a part of the menu we had not seen before – half size meals! That suited us just fine, and she ordered the half size French toast with bacon and egg and I ordered the half waffle with bacon and scrambled eggs plus a couple of sausage links to have some to take home to the boys. Both meals came with cheesy hash browns, but we didn’t have much of those. Continue reading Fast Eddie’s Breakfast. Social Club meeting.
I have noticed over the last few days that our Lantana shrubs are putting out more blossoms, and suspect that it is due to cooling weather. Our temps have been as much as 12° below normal the last week or so, down into the 80s and low 90s. I think our Moss Rose plants are putting out more blossoms as well. When I mentioned it to Elaine this afternoon she mentioned that it may be time to plant some pansies, petunias, and other annuals. Here in Phoenix we plant those flowers in October and they thrive through the winter, unlike in northern climes where they are planted in late May. It is too hot for them in May-October. We delight in the continued below-average temperatures. Normal for this time of year is 100° but we’ve had temps 2-3° below that and the forecast calls for this to continue. Look at the 88 and 89 and 90 in the forecast! We’ve enjoyed those lower temps and the Park even had to start up the pool heater again because pool temps were getting down into the low 80s. It was comfortable enough that Elaine washed down and cleaned the golf cart after we returned from swimming this afternoon; it really needed it. Continue reading Below average temps continue. I guess we didn’t do enough shopping yesterday, for Elaine and Pete Petersen went to WinCo and Walmart today! Pete is a discerning shopper and is very aware of prices and values, and knows which products to buy in which store, so there are things for which he has convinced us to go to WinCo. As well, Elaine needed to do some shopping for the Royal Palm Rescue Pantry and both those places are good places to shop for the pantry. I’ll be able to go next time, for they saw some electric carts at WinCo; I can’t walk far enough to cover that huge store on foot. Continue reading Shopping. Newsletter. Cooler weather.
