Good news Gizmo. Jo update.

Gizmo, our youngest Shih Tzu, has had eye problems almost since birth. He has had and been treated for pigmentosa keratitis for a year or more; this is a brown pigment coating covering part of the surface of both eyes. Recently he had a bulge in his left eye which has been treated by Eye Care For Animals in Phoenix as well. He was due for a followup and I had made an appointment for today. Then last week we started noticing a white streak near the bottom of his left eye and another just over the center. Continue reading Good news Gizmo. Jo update.

Board meeting. Newsletter. Gallery.

It was Royal Palm Social Club Board meeting time. Elaine, as an officer, attended it this morning and I went along as newsletter and web editor to watch and listen from the sidelines to be prepared for newsletter content. It was a fairly short meeting; there were only a few items to discuss and only one to take action on, and three of the Board members had something to do around 11:00. The newly-elected Board members attended the meeting as well; they will take office in January. Continue reading Board meeting. Newsletter. Gallery.

Early flight. On to Cabo.

View from Gate 75 at SFO

4:15 AM comes all too soon, especially when we got to the hotel around 10:30 the night before! But that was the time for our wakeup call so we could catch the 5:00 shuttle to the airport in Phoenix. Our flight was at 7:00 AM and we needed to grab a bite to eat before boarding. We got checked in OK, but had a 10-15 minute wait for wheelchair drivers to take us to our gate. We got a brief breakfast and headed to our gate – it was crowded! Continue reading Early flight. On to Cabo.

Lots to do.

Clean my desk, work on the newsletter, pay some bills, clean my desk, get newsletter drafts out for review, put tape flags on some mailbox posts, clean my desk, work on newsletter – this is how my day went. I have to complete the newsletter so it can go to the printer tomorrow morning, but could not finish it until after the Social Club meeting yesterday and a couple of other events because I needed info from them. I got it done enough so I felt comfortable printing out draft copies for George Immerson (club president) and Leslie Nielsen (activities coordinator and a good reviewer) to work on today. Pappadeaux with John. Dog wash.

John, Elaine, and Dave at Pappadeaux

When John knew he would be staying over again tonight, he requested of his Mom that we go to “that seafood place you like so much” for supper. He remembers that I occasionally write about going to Pappadeaux, so that is where we went. I think he thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and we are glad we went. Elaine had a lobster, John Pasta Mardi Gras, and I had Shrimp and Scallops over Orecchiette pasta with jumbo lump crab & asparagus in a creamy Parmesan vodka sauce. We had plenty to bring home for tomorrow. Continue reading Pappadeaux with John. Dog wash.

Gizmo good eye report. HostGator. Bearizona.

Gizmo got a good report from his eye doctor today! It has been two weeks since we took him to Eye Care for Animals because of a swelling on the cornea of his left eye. Dr Sigler prescribed an eye salve which I have been applying to his left eye three times a day. Dr Sigler said there has been an improvement, and we can see the reduction in swelling as well. He must have the salve for another month, though on a reduced dosage. Good news! Continue reading Gizmo good eye report. HostGator. Bearizona.

Ethernet hub. Bill Schuling. WordPress expansion.

My Ethernet hub allows up to four devices to connect.

Ethernet is the wired system for connecting computers and devices, and was the only way prior to wireless (WiFi) becoming popular. And Ethernet remains the most reliable and fastest when it can be used. I had our house wired so that Ethernet cables were run to the office so we could connect our computers there. But only one of the four ports was working, so only one device (my computer) could be connected. I bought an Ethernet hub which solves that problem by splitting the one connection with up to four uses. Continue reading Ethernet hub. Bill Schuling. WordPress expansion.

Grooming day. Coax start. New webs.

three boys
Elaine’s three Phoenix boys. Kerby, Dave, Gizmo

We’ve got a couple of slick boys tonight. Kerby and Gizmo were groomed today, and they are no longer shaggy and look like they have each lost 1-3 pounds. But that was all fluff. We are very happy with the job Danielle and crew do at the Pet Club store at 19th Ave and Northern. What is especially good for us is that Kerby and Gizmo like her and do not fight going to her salon. And she does a very good job of looking for potential problems such as Kerby’s lumps and bumps. They weigh each dog each  time and let us know what they weighed in at. And, they are a lot of fun to talk to. A very lively place. Continue reading Grooming day. Coax start. New webs.
