Yesterday we had a record high temperature of 84°. The average is 68° for the date and the previous record high was 81° in 1940. Today we were short of the record – 80° instead of 81°. And this week the forecast is for continuing above-average temperatures. Not that we are complaining, mind you! It’s just that we are in the Christmas season and going through all the preparations, but having been raised in NH and lived in the northern US until 2000 I still have an expectation of cold and snow at this time of year. Tonight we joined a group of 35 people from Royal Palm celebrating the November Birthday Bash at the Texas Roadhouse in MetroCenter. The first Birthday Bash was in July, and the group size has grown larger every month and meets at a different place. Only a few of the people at the Birthday Bash are actually celebrating their birthday this month, but that does not matter. The rest of us come along for the fun of getting together and getting out! Texas Roadhouse is not one of the restaurants Elaine and I like to go to, because of the noise. But this is the atmosphere of that chain and many people go there because of it.
