We started off our day with our usual Saturday morning breakfast out, this time at Village Inn. Rachel, Destry, Cora, and Cody went with us. Then we finished the day with supper at Pizza Hut. The same group was there plus Shauna and Casey Dockter, Taylor Dockter, and Shane and Johnna Ogden plus one of her granddaughters. A good time was had by all. I got up around 6:30 this morning and had my breakfast as usual. A little later Destry got a call from brother Shane inviting us to join he and Johnna for breakfast at Village Inn. I went along to enjoy the company, though I only had a cup of coffee. We had a great time and it was fun watching Shane teach Cody how to build a drinking straw pyramid that Cody was calling a bonfire. Continue reading Breakfast with a gang. Visit from Kyle and Bryson. We had an excellent supper tonight at Las Gloria’s Grill, with Pete, Lisa, and Bill. At the pool this afternoon Elaine asked where I was taking her for supper, and that was my choice. Apparently it also suited Pete and Bill since they said they wanted to join us. And Pete contacted Lisa, who had been wanting to go there for some time so she joined us as well. We are back at one of our frequent stops – the Rock Springs-Green River KOA– in Rock Springs WY. This is the city from which Elaine and I moved to Phoenix in 2000. We have family here: Elaine’s sister, Jo Behrman; son Shane Ogden and his wife, Johnna; son John Ogden; and daughter Shauna Ogden Dockter and her husband Casey. So we come back often to visit with family. But this area was Elaine’s home for almost all of her life from around age 6 to 2000, and I lived here from around 1979 through 2000 except for when we lived in Lewiston ME from around 1986-1990. We will be here for a week. Continue reading At Rock Springs KOA.
Up to our ears in trash would have been a good term to use. It had been WAY TOO LONG since I hauled to the recycle bins and today was the day to get it done. Royal Palm Social Club does recycling of aluminum, cardboard, paper, and #1 and #2 plastics. The recycle basket under the kitchen sink had been overflowing for a week or more, there was a collection of cardboard boxed on the deck, and the area around my recycle cans behind the deck was, to turn a phrase, trashy. I started with the cardboard boxes, knocking them down flat, and loading them in the golf cart. There was enough to make a whole load of that, so Elaine and the boys and I headed off to the bins.
